Lift Off!

Or should I say countdown? It is both.

Behind the scenes, I’ve been working on something I said I’d never do. “No, thank you, I’m not interested. Not even a little.”

Until one day last September when God stamped His words on my heart. It stopped me in my tracks. The short conversation went something like this: “If I ask you, will you do it?” When it’s the God of the universe asking, how else could I respond? I surrendered a meek “yes.”

Many times since the day of that conversation, I asked the Lord to confirm what I had agreed to. I needed to be assured that this was His story, His project, His platform, and not my own. And guess what? When you ask for affirmation, be ready! My journal is full of them. God met me at every bend along the way. It has been, by far, the most beautiful part of this journey.

So here we are. After eight months of work, I have self-published a book.

I climbed over fear, insecurity, and technical difficulties. I arrived at this final destiny with peace and confidence, trusting that each step I took was a step of long obedience in following Jesus.

This was my original artwork idea for the cover of my book. A friend, Jess, beautifully brought my ideas to life. I asked for a willow tree (reminiscent of my childhood home), a bluebird (hubs and my favorite bird), and a goldendoodle (all our grandchildren live with one).

The countdown is getting close. I have my copyright certificate from the US government in my hand. I own an ISBN number. The book should be on my bookshelf in a couple weeks. And then liftoff!

While waiting, I’m excited about another liftoff: my new writing corner and blog site, Small Thoughts & Big Leaps. For the last couple of years, I have floundered around finding my space to settle into. More than anything, I love a sense of community—a place where you, too, can share your thoughts. And what might we think about? My writing is a potpourri of this and that, a patchwork of life.

There are a bazillion words out there. If you want to follow along with mine, you can enter your email on the very bottom of this page and be notified when a new blog post is up. I will also post the link on Facebook.

My secret is out. Keep scrolling and you will find my book cover! In my next blog, I will share a little more of what’s inside my pages. Until then, thanks for sharing this page with me. It’s a friendlier world because you’re here.

Small to big leaps.

Margi
