Small Thoughts & Big Leaps

As Promised

Like many of you, I carry a lot of titles. Two that have been with me since elementary school are writer and wonderer. I carry words around in my mind, always twirling, trying to find some form of landing. My wonder dreams mold my words.

Vocation has been a word that eluded me, or at the least confused me. Hint #1: As you read my book, you will find more of this story woven throughout. Interestingly, the word vocation is derived from the Latin word “vox” or “voice.” Without realizing it, over the years, somewhere along the way, I found my voice. And all the words and the dreams circling up in my head began to make sense. I found the thrill of stringing words together that matched the passion of my heart.

Drum Roll! The Intrigue of Small Thoughts: Pathway to a Deeper Life is in print! Chuck and I are driving to pick up the books today and taking time out for a celebratory lunch.

Although I’m an introvert, I love connecting with people. One compliment I received for my writing perfectly reflects my heart’s desire: “When I read your words, I feel like we are journeying along life’s path together.” That is a good summary of why I write. We don’t travel alone.

This is not a Bible study book, nor is it a devotional book. It is a peek into my heart, a conversation that if you were sitting nook-side with me, these words would tumble out. It is my small attempt to inspire a deeper life, beginning with my own.

The prayer of my heart is in this song, “Available” (Integrity Worship). “I hear You call, I am available. I say yes, Lord, I am available. Here I am with open hands, counting on Your grace again. Less of me and more of You. I just wanna see You move. Use me how you want to God.”

Simply put, and the best words I can find twirling are, I am humbled. Truly, I have a host of cheerleaders out in this big ole’ world! And I hope I am one of yours.
