Book-ish Report

Before I get to the mini-project I promised to share, allow me to give a short update on my book. The sales have taken off far more than my husband and I ever dreamed. The response has been overwhelming! I am out of words other than to simply say that I am humbled. To God, I give credit. I’m grateful it is His platform to do as He chooses. I get to have fun watching Him at work. The books have already traveled to nine states and one outside the country.

Two words: summer mornings. They might be the most beautiful words in my dictionary, or at least the most longed for. Besides lolly-gagging around, where might you find me on a warm summer morning?

I’m glad you wondered.

A couple of weeks ago, while a neighbor and I were walking, a friend waved me down, asking if my husband would like a project. She invited me into her lovely enclosed porch to view a well-worn glider for two.

I instantly fell in love with the unique, vintage glider with a small triangular table attached to both chairs. I had already chosen the perfect spot for it. We have a back patio, just a concrete old slab that has seen better days, a future Someday Project. It is an alcove between our Nook and Hideaway rooms and offers privacy. Think early morning pj’s and coffee.

It was a hopeful yes, but I needed to check in with Mr. Fixer-upper first. Chuck, catching my vision, said yes! Into the garage it went for some of his magic—fixing and a coat of paint. Of course, what color would I choose other than my cottage red?

Always hard at work.

ā€œNurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think.ā€  ~Benjamin Disraeli (Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1874)

With my Bible in hand, I have four words to ponder this morning. ā€œThus saith the Lord.ā€ I look out at the view of our trees. To my right, I watch the colorful birds at their feeders. What is the Lord speaking to me about today?

ā€œThus saith the LORD. Stand in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.ā€ Jeremiah 6:16

Glider, be still for a minute. Put on the brakes. Take inventory of where your life is going. Ponder the path of your feet. Seek a rest for your soul.

Some may view the ā€œold pathsā€ of following God’s wisdom as uncool or terribly outdated. Just the opposite, following Jesus is the place of peace, joy, and freedom. As I surrender my will for His, restoration stirs. Abundance overflows.

With my morning coffee, I’m gliding on the ancient path. It is a glider for two. I’d love your morning company, where we can ponder about all the things.

ā€˜Til next time, enjoy your view.

One small project for Chuck will bring much joy to you and many more. Inspiration is my word for you. With tears in my eyes and remembering the leadership class I attended under your lead, I come to a place of decision in my own journey. Please pray that I clearly see God’s path. I have been wrestling with this decision for awhile now.

I could really relate to your story about the spiders. Each day I go around the house with my hand sweeper and go web hunting. I don’t like spiders but I realize God has a purpose in creating them. That thought went deeper which reminded me that we are all parts of the body and have a job to do just like the spider. Thanks Margi!
