A Season of Import
There is a nip in the air, reminding me that it won’t be long before we gather fireside in our Nook. While I’m not quite ready (nor seems the weather forecast) to pull out my cozy throws, I do sense a quiet arrival of chilly is on the way.
My book stack is ready. My sweatshirts beckon. And just about the time we purchase a few pumpkins and mums, soup will be on.
(As I write, I’m aware of the devastation of the hurricane in the south that has inflicted pain on so many – loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods. If you are part of this aftermath, please know there is a girl up north whose heart breaks for you.)
Back to the Inn. I have two projects for the fall. The first we checked off last week was upholstering.
Are we upholsterers? No, but the seat covers of our island stools, purchased about four years ago, are crumbling. To make the case for frugality, it cost us $9 to recover the stools. They transformed from gray to blackāno fancy seams or buttonsājust five plain black stools. We shall see how they hold up.
Patience. Teamwork. A couple of hours. Mission accomplished.

The second project I’m still dreaming about is to shiplap my backsplash. It’s not a couple-hour job. Stay tuned. It could happen, or not.
I came across this conversation. It’s a good ponder for any season:
Imagine you are sitting on a bench next to Jesus. As you sit together, He smiles at you and asks, “What’s on your mind?”
I hope you have that kind of bench-sharing relationship with Him. I do, and it is by far the best choice I’ve made in life.
The Afterward in my book, “The Intrigue of Small Thoughts: Pathway to a Deeper Life,” is an invitation to discover who Jesus is and how you can be assured of Heaven.
If you are uncertain of your seat at the “bench with Jesus,” I have an offer for you. I am happy to send you a book free of charge, where you can read more. Just email or FB message me your address. Or, find me to talk in person. My greatest joy in life is sharing my best friend.
Now it’s time to edit my new recipe: Baked Peach French Toast for cousin playdate brunch. Skip the peaches and make it blueberry. I can already attest that the new recipe for Peanut Butter Bars is a hit. The carpenter is nibbling away.
Wondering on many things,
Margi
