Makeover Whilst We Wait
In our only ever before home, after our kids emptied their bedrooms, we revamped the four rooms upstairs and established a non-profit Bed & Breakfast.
Each room had a name over the doorway. The rooms had luxurious white comforters. I was going for clean lines and a welcome spa feel. Sweet was that season.

I am leading somewhere. I promise.
When we moved, we took all our bedding with us. After four years of looking at the white comforter, I purposed this winter to conquer our bland guest room.
Considerations. My color theme was set by my daughter’s high school watercolor of our beloved Camp Patmos, which I’ll never part with. (Speaking of color, please pretend I know how to photograph with filters to make my pics look like they do in real life.)

Rug – purchased last year. Check.
Curtains – purchased this winter. Check.
Candle sconces – purchased this winter. Check.
All I needed was top bedding to add some color.

Introducing my quilt for $41.99 on Amazon. I was holding my breath on the color match. Perfect! I shopped my house for pillows and a throw. I added a couple of velvet bows to my sconces.
Drum roll. I bring you my new inexpensive bedroom makeover. Just the corner lamp needs attention – but another day as my calendar calls. My last dream in this little bedroom is to wallpaper behind the antique headboard. Next winter. Smiling, as it will take hubs that many months to catch my vision!

We are in the last few weeks of our up-and-down winter weather here in Ohio. I’ve tried to make it a fun goal-worthy season, but I’m running low on indoor projects and low on patience to throw open the windows.
In one of my many readings, I came upon this question, which I plan to practice with my grandchildren: What would you name today if it were a book?
While I ponder several titles, I landed this:
“A Day Well Lived“
Beyond the obvious fun and satisfaction of using the little creativity God gave to me, the truth of a well-lived day began hours before I embarked on the bedding makeover.
This week, I had an opportunity to share with my dental hygienist my morning routine of opening the Bible. It is a habit I began as a young girl, a rhythm that has held me for some 55 years. The central figure of the Bible is Jesus. He is the storyline, and not only is Jesus my Savior, He is my friend.
Would I quit reading my Bible now? An easy no. I need God’s counsel, comfort, and promises now more than ever. The outcome? A deep joy that is hard to explain, even when life throws out sad and bad. I have freedom with a purpose and a peace that money cannot buy.
Well-living. A worthy pursuit. Offered to all of us. It comes with a smile and a change of color.
