Grounding Is Good

If I don’t get my laptop open, my Fall Y’all chalkboard of leaves and pumpkins will soon be updated to winter snowflakes. And I will have missed sharing with you how I enjoy this time of year. It’s magical, really. Leaves swirling in glorious colors gently remind me to slow down and soak in the beauty. And I learn all over again to appreciate change.

My flower pots did not heed the fall memo and have continued to bloom, saving me this year on mum shopping. They are barely hanging in there, but I still appreciate the pink petals amidst the oranges, reds, and browns.

Our last days of fun getaways for the season were spent at our cabin in PA with our family. Think noise, great fun, hiking, and grands building a pioneer fort. (Thank you, Goodwill, for providing hours of entertainment.) Our youngest, Elijah, was hired as head cook. When it’s time to leave (with all very sad faces), the grands have a tradition: they circle together and pray – so long until next time.

Grounded back at Wander Inn, I tackled my 111 cleaning and decluttering tasks, room by room, including cupboards, closets, and drawers. Poco a poco, little by little. And procrastination is checked off my list, just in time to enjoy the holidays approaching!

Remember my project of adding wallpaper to our guest room? Here to report.

Before. The blank wall behind the headboard.

After. We peeled and stuck! Happy with the inexpensive update. The antique headboard also received a makeover.

In the Pioneer Fort of 2025, created by our grandchildren, I fell in love with the pathway they designed for their little house. They had a vision and worked hard to accomplish it. One stone at a time.

Grounding. Building.

It’s a process. There’s a daily rhythm to it. Google has something to say about the habits of grounding – including deep breathing, sensory grounding, mental awareness, and walking barefoot on the grass.

All good habits, but in my days, one routine rises above them all, the morning habit of opening up God’s Word. Can I lead you to the beautiful words found in the Ancient Hymnbook?

ā€œYou make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.ā€ Psalm 16:11

We are building a life, one stone at a time. One habit builds a destiny.

It brings a smile to remember: a routine is just a series of days strung together.

Thank you for walking the path with me today. I am glad you joined me.

You’re quite the interior designer! I love it. The yard has the most vibrant colors I’ve seen all fall. How much fun.🄰

Love this Margi! And love your thinking process as you pulled all the grounding, building ingredients together….especially, beginning each day in and with the Word. Beautiful! Carolyn
