My Heart’s View
I haven’t written in a while, as I’ve been reminded by our oldest granddaughter, Sidney, 11. She told me she checks daily, looking for my blog.
So this is for you, Sidney, and any of you who faithfully follow. My excuse – laziness or busyness. Probably a bit of both.
“Home is where your mom is.”
My calendar boxes for May are marked with some of the most significant events of the year.
Early May – Mother’s Day
May 13 – Mom’s earthly life ended, 2022
May 26 – Mom’s birthday, she died just 2 weeks before turning 90
One of my favorite photos. Mom with Macien, now 11.

My home, I hope, is a reflection of much of Mom. She took pride in homemaking, cooking, baking, gardening, and flower-tending. (Well, leave out the gardening ā Chuckās department.)
For as long as I can remember, Mom had peony bushes. We inherited one here at our cottage. They bloom in the right month! I like to bring in a cut flower to our Nook each year in honor of Mom.

We grew up having people in our home. Hospitality was a hallmark in the Mayo house. And so was studying the Bible. Both Mom and Dad were Bible college grads. We were on Team Jesus. It has shaped who I am today and my love for God’s Word, the Bible.
Mom’s love. Mom’s prayers. Mom’s example. Mom’s generosity.

I miss you, Mom. My first cross-stitch project so many years ago. Who knew back then I would fall in love with the bluebird here at Wander Inn.

A couple of weeks ago, I found an old letter from May 7, 1998, that I had saved from Mom. I have read it many times, always with a tear. It is full of encouragement to both Chuck and me as young parents. A gift was enclosed to help pay for Brian’s braces.
HomeGoods – I found the perfect frame. And now I have a beautiful reminder at my coffee station.

Home is where my Mom is. Her new address? A huge upgrade. Heaven. I will see her again. All because Jesus made a way. Someday it will be my address too.
If you could meet my Mom and Dad, they would invite you to a friendship with God. And them. And for dessert. For those who didn’t know them, I wish you could have.
Wander Inn Cottage carries the same welcome. Dessert included.

PS – Open invite – if anyone is interested in learning more about the Bible one-on-one, I’m here for it! Or even just a chat. Relaxed setting, no pressure. Can email (monkjo@live.com) or message me. I’d love to hear your story.
